About 100 people attended the 11th annual Great Lakes Bay Pride Awards Banquet held in Saginaw’s Andersen Enrichment Center Thursday.

Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to Stuart Barbier  of Delta College plus retired teacher and activist Leo Romo.

Pride Director Scott Ellis says the organization wants to  enhance recent progress locally by persuading state lawmakers to expand the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act. That would include  definitions of discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender  identity and expression.
