Alabama Man Sentenced In Genesee County for Decades Old Sexual Assaults

A decades old series of sexual assaults against a child have finally resulted in a lengthy prison sentence against the perpetrator.

In April, 53-year-old Tyrone Jones of Alabama pleaded guilty to 31 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct for assaulting a girl in Flint repeatedly in 2002 and 2003. The girl became pregnant when she was 13 years old. Both Jones and the victim moved to separate out of state locations sometime following the assaults, though the victim, now an adult, returned to Flint in 2022 and filed a police report.

Jones was sentenced this week to 15 – 50 years in prison.
