Bay City Commissioners could approve a revised sidewalk repair program at their next meeting in early March.

City Engineering Manager Rachel Phillips explained to the Commission Monday that 10 % of the roughly $300,000 raised through a 1% administrative fee will go into an emergency fund. Phillips says the remainder is to be doled out a quarter of a ward at a time.

Phillips noted repairs in those sections would take anywhere from a month to two years to finish based on the  amount of work that needed to be done.  She called it the best way to show progress as there are an estimated 32 miles of bad sidewalks altogether in the city which would take at least 30 years to fix with the 1% fee structure.
