Bay City school board trustees heard more Monday about the district’s two year old Chief Science Officer Program which involves students themselves leading STEM related initiatives at the middle and high
schools.
K-12 Math and Science Instructional Support Specialist Connie Kennedy says selected students undergo two days of leadership training in August at Saginaw Valley State University before school starts. That includes becoming comfortable speaking in public and promoting their respective action plans.
Activities have included a variety of experiments and even a greenhouse renovation at Western High School.
