A partnership with the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, Central Michigan University, CMU students and local landlords has resulted in decreased violations of community standards during the opening of CMU’s fall semester.

For the past three years, the number of infractions have gone down. The partnership began in 2014 when the city developed a multi-year plan to address the history of violations and increasing tension among students and residents of neighborhoods north of the CMU campus. This year, between 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 22 to 7:00 a.m. Sunday, August 25, police responded to 246 calls and issued 40 citations. A number of arrests on various charges were also made.
