Equipment Accident Blamed in Midland Landfill Death

Midland Police are releasing more information about a fatal accident Thursday at the city landfill. They said 59-year-old Mark Stitt of Hesperia died when he became trapped in a hydraulic trailer he was working with to dump material at the landfill.
Stitt was a private contractor doing work in the Midland area. Someone at the landfill saw that he had been injured, and called for help shortly before 9:00 a.m., Thursday, but once police arrived, he had passed away.
