False Alarm in Bay City School Shooting Threat
A report of a man threatening to shoot up schools in Bay City turned out to be a false alarm.
Police investigating the threats were told a man in a trench coat made comments about shooting up schools Tuesday, September 24 while he was at the Bay City Salvation Army and later at a bar. After questioning the man, they determined there was no credible threat.
The man, who was cooperative with police and said he never made those threats, was found to own no firearms. A search of his home confirmed this.
During the investigation, Bangor Township schools went into secure mode, meaning the day goes on normally but movement of students and visitors is restricted. Bay City Schools received the information about there being no threat and so did not go into secure mode.
