A crash in Isabella County’s Chippewa Township Sunday, June 30 claimed the lives of four people.

Police say the driver of a Jeep on M-20 near Mt. Pleasant may have suffered a medical issue, which caused the 48-year-old Hemlock man to swerve into oncoming traffic and crash head-on into a pickup truck. A second vehicle also collided with the truck. The Hemlock man was killed, as were two passengers in the pickup, including a three-year-old. The 34-year-old female driver of the pickup, from Sanford, died overnight in a hospital from injuries she received in the crash, which is under investigation. Two people in the third vehicle also suffered injuries but are expected to survive.

The names of the victims have not been released.
