Saginaw city officials are considering converting most of a nearly two mile long stretch of Wickes Park Drive along the Saginaw River into a multi-use pathway.

But Deputy Director of Public Services Beth London explained residents want to maintain some vehicle access to allow children and teens to reach an upgraded playground and basketball  courts. Another idea involves a possible tie in to the “Iron Belle” bicycle trail running from Detroit’s Belle Isle all the way to the Upper Peninsula.

London who spoke after a Wednesday public meeting at City Hall  on the issue says an application could go to the state later this year.
