Hampton Township to Hold Informational Meeting on Elevated Lead Levels

Hampton Township officials are holding an informational meeting Monday, June 17 to discuss lead found in some homes within the community.

Recently, officials with the state Departments of Health and Human Services and Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) reported lead was found in in-home service lines at more than 20 residences within the county. Eight of those homes had lead action levels of more than 15 parts per billion, which is above state standards. 41 sites were tested out of nearly 3,000 customers in the township. Tests done at the Bay Area Water Treatment plant found there was no lead in the water at the facility.

The meeting will be held between 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Hampton Township Hall at 801 W. Center Rd. in Essexville. Officials from the township, the Bay Area Water Treatment Plant, the Bay County Health Department and the EGLE will be on hand. Residents can arrive any time to ask questions.
