A Blanchard man was injured after hitting a horse with his vehicle on Saturday.

State Police troopers from the Mt. Pleasant post responded to the area on West Blanchard Road. They say the 65-year-old man was driving west when five horses belonging to an Amish family in the area were seen near the road. The horses apparently left their enclosure after a tree fell on a fence overnight.

One of the horses ran into the road in front of the man’s vehicle and was struck and killed. The man suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital.
