Lumber Mill Fire Prompts Evacuation of Nearby Homes

A Tuscola County lumber mill fire resulted in homes being evacuated on Sunday, August 18.

Northern Log Supply in Mayville caught fire around 4:40 a.m. and several fire departments from the county responded to the scene. The evacuations began around 5:15 after explosions could be heard coming from the business. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
