A crash between two motorcycles in Lapeer County on Saturday claimed the life of a Flint man.

The Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office says a group of three motorcycles was heading north on Silverwood Road ant Barnes Road around 2:30 P.M. when the crash occurred. According to the invetigation, a 61-year-old Flint man was riding a 2014 Harley Davidson in the lead of the group slowed suddenly for a vehicle traveling through the intersection. According to police, 75-year-old Carl Rhinebolt was riding a 2018 Harley behind the man and crashed into his bike, sending them both sliding across the road.

Police say Rhinebolt was not wearing a helmet. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to McLren Lapeer Hospital, where he died several hours later. The other man was uninjured.
