A Midland man was arraigned last Friday in the shooting death of a relative.

On Thursday, police received a 9-1-1 call from two women, ages 51 and 21, claiming the older woman’s 28-year-old son Brelawn Evans attacked them in a house in the 1400 block of Jay Street. According to police reports, Evans’ brother, 33-year-old Quartez Green, stayed in the house to calm him down. When police arrived just before 7:00 A.M., the found Green dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Police say he had been shot through a closed door. A pistol was recovered at the scene.

Police say Evans fled the home, but was later arrested without incident in the area of Waldo Avenue and Lambros Drive. Evans is currently held in the Midland County Jail on charges of first degree murder, felony firearm, and aggravated assault.
