Midland High School was placed into secure m0de Wednesday after a threat was discovered on social media.

In Facebook post, the Midland Public Schools District reported the threat was discovered by several students. Law enforcement officials were able to identify the student who made the threat and make direct contact with them. There was no immediate danger to any students or staff, according to the district.

It’s unclear what consequences the student will face, though threats of this nature can lead to charges of false report or threat of terrorism, a 20-year felony.

The district is asking parents and caregivers to speak with their kids about the appropriate use of social media and the implications of making threats.
