June is National Pet Preparedness Month and the Michigan State Police encourage residents to have a plan for their pets in case of an emergency.

Having an emergency preapredness kit for your pets can ensure complete family readiness during an emergency or disaster. A kit for pets may include pet food and water with bowls; a leash, collar or carrier; photo of your pet or a photo of you with your pet; immunization and veterinary records, plus any pet medications; a first aid kit; toys and sanitation bags; and a contact list of pet friednly hotels, out of town friends and family and veterinarians.
