Consumers Power crews have restored power to half of the 220,000 customers who lost power in thunderstorms that moved across lower Michigan Saturday.  As of noon Sunday 111,000 customers had service restored.  Consumers crews have been working around the clock.  Additional utility crews have been called in from 6 states to assist.  Locally Frankenmuth and Birch Run areas in Saginaw County were hardest hit with many trees, limbs and wires down.  Consumers urges you to stay at least 25 feet away from any downed lines and report them to the utility.  Generators should be used with care and in open areas away from any intake vents.  They should never be used in basements or garages.
