The Catholic Diocese of Saginaw has a new Bishop in Robert Gruss.

Gruss spoke about a new Advent of “hopeful expectation” following the death of Bishop Joseph Cistone and fallout from the church’s sex abuse scandal. Gruss added he’s looking for growth in vocations with church members reaching out more to help those in need and following the example of Jesus.

Gruss also took time during the ceremony at Holy Spirit Church in Thomas Township Friday to thank Bishop Walter Hurley for serving the Saginaw Diocese as Apostolic Administrator for most of the last year.
