Saginaw Mayor Pro-Tem Brenda Moore is making history as the Michigan Municipal League’s new board president. Moore’s election by the 18-member panel occurred this week during the League’s annual convention in Detroit. Moore is the first African-American woman selected president in the League’s 120-year history.

Moore called her election “the ultimate dream and a true honor. ” She had been MML Vice President this past year, before stepping into the president’s role in July, when the former president resigned to run for Mayor of the Detroit suburb of Ferndale.

Moore will now continue as MML President for the next 12 months.
