Threat Prompts Precautions at Local School District
Reese high school and middle school were in “shelter in place” mode and the elementary school was in “secure” mode for a couple of hours Tuesday morning, after the school district received an undisclosed threat. Superintendent Keith Wetters sent a letter to parents, saying that after law enforcement assessed the situation, it was determined the threat was not credible. The “all clear” was given just before noon.
The district made a Facebook post while the incident was ongoing, but some parents who saw it complained about a lack of details. Wetters acknowledged such situations can be frustrating for parents, but said they followed procedures and have students’safety as their first concern. Wetters said police are investigating the incident and have notified the Tuscola County Prosecutor’s office.
