Too much lead found in Clare water system

The city of Clare is urging residents to take precautions after test results exceeding limits for lead were found during recent water testing.

Two service lines at downtown businesses were above the “action level” for lead.  Residential samples were below that level.

Clare does not have lead in its water mains and it’s inventorying service lines so lead ones can be replaced.

Residents are being advised to run water before using and to take other steps.

Water filters are being distributed today.
