Tuscola Hit and Run Suspect Found Dead

Police in Tuscola County found the body of man believed to have been involved in a May 5 hit and run accident.

Police say the body of 46-year-old Christopher Fredenberg of Birch Run was discovered behind a residence on S. Block Rd. Saturday, May 11 with suspected self-inflicted wounds. Fredenberg was a suspect in a double rollover crash when he allegedly was driving a Chevy Silverado hauling a trailer and ran a stop sign at Bray and Barnes roads in Arbela Township, west of Millington. The vehicle struck a Ford Ranger driven by 60-year-old Patricia Hatfield of Mount Morris.

Witnesses say the suspect helped Hatfield from her vehicle before fleeing the scene on foot. Hatfield was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Her condition is currently unknown.

The investigation is ongoing.
